Rehabilitation
The amount of time it takes for a patient to recover is dependent on the severity and nature of the injury and the structures affected (for example bones, muscles, tendons or ligaments). Keen athletes often return to their chosen sport too early, posing the potential risk of further serious injury. Our osteopaths can provide professional advice to help ensure a measured and controlled return to fitness, to eliminate these risks.
Sometimes rehabilitation may require the use of strapping the prescription of resistance and stretching exercises, depending on the nature of the injury.
Overall management includes relaxation techniques, as well as advice on contrast bathing (cold and hot), nutrition, anti-inflammatory drugs and the motivation to regain full fitness.
Communication with a team manager or coach is advised throughout the recovery period.
